WHY ARE YOU PLAYING THIS CHARACTER? WHAT PERSONAL CONFLICTS DO YOU WANT TO EXPLORE IN-GAME: BSG is amazing. I'd play Laura but Christie has her so obviously I need to app Bill to play against her. Plus I registered this journal to play him forever ago. Also over the course of the show, like with the rest of the cast, he has grown so much as a character that it will be interesting to see how he continues to grow while here.

He's going to have a hard time adjusting to being here at first at least until he finds a purpose. Partly because he's going to have finally succeeded in getting the Fleet to Earth and just buried Laura (sobs forever). The lack of purpose is going to be his hardest thing to work through though. He's spent so long in the military and then trying to get the remainder of humanity to Earth.

Bill Adama is a pragmatic person, effective military leader who cares deeply for those who he considers to be his family. While he is highly strategic and rarely lets emotion influence his decisions he often finds when faced with situations that involve his chosen family, that he will allow his emotions to rule his actions more than he otherwise would. He's always had a strong sense of culture and tradition, valuing the beliefs not only of his people but the traditions and culture that being in the Military brought along with the routine.

Despite caring so much for his family, he can remain cool and collected in the face of the crisis acting to the best of his ability. He has spent such a long time in command and the military, in situations where he has to be stoic, people can find him incredibly hard to read. When faced with pressure, he has the ability to (mostly) switch off anything that will distract him.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Bill is an incredibly loyal person to both his family, friends and crew. Despite all his other personality traits, this is perhaps his strongest and most prominent one. He wants to believe the best of everyone and it is why he is willing to give them the second chances. Despite that he won't hold on to the loyalty if the person shows to be disloyal, such as Galtea and his mutiny with Zarek not long before they found Earth.

This loyalty means his trust in them is strong but he also doesn't trust easily and finds adapting to change easy, though he is nowhere near as bad as he used to be. This distrust of change is what allowed Galactica to survive the attack on the Fleet by the Cylon's virus. While others might not trust in some of his situations that he did - such as with Sharon - he kept this trust, his instincts telling him that he was doing the correct thing.

Along with being very stoic with his emotions, Bill Adama is a realistic man who knows that not all situations will end well. He has lost loved ones and crew members throughout the years. Death, is a part of the job. While losing some people hurt more than others, it is a risk that everyone took when joining the Fleet and that is something he has always been aware of. During the time that the remainder of Humanity became closer, he felt their deaths more painfully but there was little he could do but move on.

His realism, not only shows itself in the fact that he's aware that lives will be lost, he knows that not everyone will get everything right the first time round. Despite being willing to offer second chances to his crew, he does expect a high quality of work from them but is patient enough to ensure they know what they are doing and will do it well. Rushing both their training and situations, especially unnecessarily, will result in mistakes, some of which could be disastrous.

Unlike other leaders, Adama has never had an ulterior motive. Everything he's done he's done because he believes it is for the best of the Fleet and the people he's protecting. While in the end it might not be the best (as seen with locking Laura up for example) at the time he truly believes his actions are for the best. Integrity - both his and others - play a strong part of who he is. He prefers for people to know where everyone stands and will speak in a plain and straight forward way to ensure everyone knows exactly what is happening. His integrity and character is that important to him, that he was more than willing to walk away from a lucrative job because he thought it wasn't a good fit for him integrity wise.

Because Bill was raised by a lawyer and developed a personality and career that meant he relied on objectivity instead of faith. This lack of faith shows in both his belief that religion is crap and only for 'stupid people' to believe in but also leaps of faith in military stratergies. Instead, Adama relied on tried and tested strategies that he knew would work. As time has passed though, he has grown to believe more in faith, both in religion and Laura's prophecies as well as being able to take leaps of faith when it comes to military strategy. It has grown so much by the time that they rescue Hera he and the rest of the Fleet fulfill their mission to find Earth.

PROUDEST MOMENT or WORST MOMENT: Getting the Fleet to Earth. He's incredibly proud that they've actually managed to succeed but it is also an incredibly heart breaking moment as he lost the woman he loved and wanted to marry if the ring he puts on her body after she died is anything to go by.
